Time to say Goodbye

Goodbye's are never fun, but on November 1st it wasn't only my turn to finish up the lesson we had been working on with the students, it was also time to say goodbye. For the past 5 Weeks we have all been given the opportunity to work with the sixth graders at Sacred Heart. We all had different experiences and were impacted in different ways. Working with these students over time you begin to grow a bond with them, seeing them, helping them, listening to the questions they may ask, it is all part of the process. Being given the opportunity to work with these students was amazing! It really allows you to gain experience and get a feel for what it is like to work with children and help them learn, grow and succeed over time. Throughout these five weeks we have seen and learned a lot from one another and from the students as well. They were welcoming us into their classroom and we were all trying in our own ways to make some what of an impact on their lives. Even though five weeks is a short amount of time these students allowed us all to come into their classroom and teach them all different topics and treated us with respect. They allowed us to work on being a teacher and striving for our goal and dream. They gave us an experience that we will remember as the years go on and something that each of us can look back on one day and remember where it all began. Saying goodbye to the children you become close with and work with for five weeks isn't easy but its something as a teacher at the end of each year you will always have to do. I hope that in some way our time at Sacred Heart has impacted the lives of the children we worked with. It was a great opportunity that I will remember as I move forward and work towards my overall goal of being a teacher with my own class one day. I hope that the little contribution we made to the students and the teacher at the end of our time their was something they will appreciate and remember us by.  They gave us all something that we appreciate, their time and effort so it was only right of us to give them something in return. I had a great experience working with these children.
