Galaxies and Constellations
This week in class we were given a task that involved a powerpoint presentation and a partner to work with. Bridget and I were assigned the topics Galaxies and Constellations. We were given the time in class Tuesday to finish up any remaining detail that we wanted to add to the slide before presenting the topic to the class. We worked together to come up with information for the class that they may not have already known about the galaxy and constellations. Together were created slides that would capture our classmates attention. The first three slides had to go with galaxies, these were the slides I talked about. I started off by giving the class the definition of galaxy and informing them of what the galaxy is. I then went on to my next slide where I explained to my classmates that the galaxy is classified into three main types, Spiral Galaxy, Elliptical Galaxy and the Irregular Galaxy. I explained a little bit of information about each of these types and then i went on to show the class what these galaxies look like. The next three slides focused on the constellations. Bridget introduced these slides to the class and spoke about what a constellation is. She then went on to the second slide where there were three links posted that the individuals learning about this topic could click on and be brought to a game a video and other interactive sites that provide them with information on constellations. We taught the class about the Ursa Major, this is something I learned more about myself. I think sharing these slides with the class is helpful and really helps us get a feel of being in front of the class and teaching a certain topic. It gives us the feel of teaching individuals and we are able to be creative in our slides as well. I really enjoyed learning more about this topic as well as teaching a little bit about it to the class.
